An increasing number of people should enrol on green energy courses and take advantage of employment opportunities in the renewables sector, according to a former mechanic.

Scott Sutherland from Scotland told the Daily Mirror that he was happy to leave his previous job as a car mechanic to work in the green energy industry.

An increased wage and the ability to travel the world persuaded Scott to move job to become an engineer and help build a wind farm in Inverness.

Scott was then able to use his experience to establish a wind farm in Romania before starting his current job with EDF Energy Renewables.

He told the Daily Mirror that people who have completed electrical courses will find it easier to get work in the green energy sector because their skills are transferable between the industries.

“It is such a young industry the chance to develop my skills and get promoted has been fantastic. My mechanical background helped, although for those with an electrical engineering background prospects are even better,” he told the newspaper.

Scott is encouraging more people to take green energy courses because of the large number of job opportunities available in the renewable power industry.

Another reason to join the green energy sector is that helping the environment brings great job fulfilment, according to Scott.

“Although it’s growing rapidly there are still massive opportunities for those with the necessary skills. There’s also real satisfaction in working in the sustainable and renewable energy industry,” he told the publication.

Jeff Anderson, from recruitment firm Taylor Hopkinson, told the newspaper that people with transferable skills who take green energy courses can take advantage of thousands of new jobs in the sector.

He told the Daily Mirror: “Anyone with hands-on experience repairing mechanical machinery is very well suited to turning their skills to the wind industry. We have witnessed a number of energy companies suffering a skills shortage.”

Mr Anderson went on to say that there were a lot of jobs available in the renewable power sector.

This is due to an ageing workforce combined with a lack of capable new talent, according to the recruiter.

A report from RenewableUK predicted that up to 60,000 jobs will be created in the wind industry by 2020 due to an increased demand for wind farms.

The Daily Mirror has advised people to take green energy courses if they already have skills which are transferable to the renewable power job market.

localfuture.org How long can this global oil supply level be maintained? When will the decline in oil supply begin? How will that impact already rising gasoline prices, oil prices, food prices and the struggling state of the world economy? To address shrinking fossil fuel supplies, increasing CO2 emissions, and rising global inequity we need to make immediate and drastic cuts to our energy use. Learn about viable curtailment strategies for food, housing, and transportation, why most “sustainable” and “green” techniques are inadequate, and how we can create cooperative low-energy communities to survive. Just what exactly is green energy an alternative to? Is it an alternative to global warming, dependency on fossil fuels, deforestation, depletion of the earth's resources, extinction of several species, and acid rain? Is it an alternative to fighting wars over oil, oil lobbyists trying to run the show, and large corporations getting tax breaks and large subsidies? It doesn't sound like an alternative to me; it sounds like a solution. What do you think?

We live in a world where green energy is becoming increasingly popular and there are reasons to introduce it to your own home or business. One of the best ways to benefit from green energy is to install solar power. If you want to eliminate some of the cost of solar you should look at the possibility of Do-It-Yourself installation. This review will examine the benefits of the Earth 4 Energy solar energy start-up guide and inform you on why this option is definitely worth considering.

Solar energy is natures way of harnessing heat from the sun. This natural source of energy generation has been used by human beings since ancient times and more sophisticated technologies are emerging all the time. Solar panels contain a mass of solar cells or a form of heat absorbing plates that are used to convert the Suns natural radiation into energy use for lighting or heating buildings for example. There are hundreds of green energy Do It Yourself (DIY) guides or manuals available in today’s marketplace and Earth 4 Energy is considered the first and most original of those products.

Solar power will save you money – a very tempting reason in itself. The initial cost of installation is quickly recovered by the savings you will make with lower energy bills on a monthly basis. It does not matter whether you choose a full solar panel installation or a smaller solar harnessing plan, the savings will still be considerable. A larger solar panel installation might even save your entire energy bill.

The Earth 4 Energy guide will enable you to take advantage of solar energy by giving you the latest information on the best solar technology available. The package includes everything you need to know in order to:

- Build your own solar panel from scratch

- Make your own wind turbine so you can generate electricity

- Connect all your own devices to a home power grid.

- Sell any excess electricity back to your local electricity generation company

- Plus other much needed information.

All of this information is of great assistance in guiding you in learning “how to make solar panels”.

Other great things about solar energy are the ethical benefits. If you reduce your energy consumption you help make the environment healthier for everyone. Second, fossil fuel such as oil is declining in supply and more countries are making heavy demands on the resource. If we reduce our individual demand on fossil fuels where possible we play our part in reducing the risk of global conflict over oil. One the best things about the sun is that it will always be there it will never run out of its ability to supply energy for all.

Finally, in a world where the cost of all other types of energy is constantly increasing having your own solar alternative makes a lot of sense. Earth 4 Energy http://app-products-info.webs.com makes it relatively easy by giving you the know-how to Do-It-Yourself in an easy to understand way. You really do not need to be a highly proficient home-handy-man to follow the Earth 4 Energy guide. The videos explain how to assemble solar panels and other forms of green energy in clear detail. Learning “how to make solar panels” is a skill well worth having and will benefit you well into the future.

The best method of educating young people about alternative energy production that this writer has ever witnessed is the use of the PicoTurbine Company’s kits, books, and projects. The PicoTurbine Company produces these things for the purpose of advancing the cause of renewable (alternative) energy and getting young people to look into the future and see that the environment that’s being seeded now is the one they will inherit then. As the late, great Gerry Ford said, “Things are more like they are now than they have ever been before.” If we are to change the future world for the better, then it starts right here and now with the advent of “green” energy systems.

One of the core concepts of PicoTurbine can be stated: Tell me, and I will forget. Show me, and I might remember some of it. Involve me, and I will master it. Based on this old tried and true adage, the kits that the company produces come with activity suggestions to get the young people into hands-on learning situations. One suggestion of the company is to demonstrate how heat can be produced by wind energy (the company’s specialty) through using a “picture wire” for the heating element.

PicoTurbine has found that people typically think of wind energy as being “cold” energy, and are pleasantly surprised to see how wind can be used for generating heat in the home. Another project suggestion that the company offers is to have different groups split off in the classroom and then compare their respective wind turbines that they have built. They can see which ones produce the most or least electricity; which ones start up with need of the least amount of wind power; and for very young children, which ones have the most aesthetic appeal.

There is a core curriculum that PicoTurbine has in mind for teachers to instill in their pupils. Renewable, alternative sources of energy include solar, hydroelectric, geothermal, and biomass in addition to wind-produced energy. When we use more alternative sources of energy, we decrease our nation’s dependence on foreign oil supplies, which often come from nations who cannot really be called our “allies”. Alternative energy is already becoming cost effective when set against the fossil fuels that we are so reliant on currently.

PicoTurbine points out that wind farms and solar arrays are already letting their makers enjoy commercial success. In the last two decades, the cost of photovoltaic cells expressed in terms of per-watt has gone from nearly $1000 to just $4! It has been predicted by analysts that by the year 2015, the cost per watt should only be about $1 (in today’s dollars).

Students also need to be taught about the hidden cost of fossil fuels: pollution and environmental degradation. Air pollution from burning fossil fuels has been shown through studies to increase incidences of asthma attacks, heighten the effects of allergies, and even cause cancer. Switching over to clean, green energy found in the alternative forms would prevent air pollution and help bolster the environment.

www.sulltek.com This is a video of the Passive Solar Heating System in use at http in Whitby, Ontario, Canada. It provides a great deal of heat, and the installer, Chris, will be making it more effecient by adding a second computer fan to push the warm air at the top, painting the inside better and taping the duct work. Also, the duct work will be directed into the office where the door can be closed and used in a smaller air mass. This kind of heater is ideal for urban survival and bugging in, since it requires no power input and is cheap and easy to make. It’s not just for strawbale, cob, cabins, cottages, earth ships or businesses. They can be installed on a home, and they look great when done right. Ragnar Benson would be proud.
Where would we be without electricity? Our modern world uses electrical power for computers, like the one I’m writing this article on, for televisions and radio that entertain and inform us, for music amplification and recording, for the fridges and freezers that keep our food fresh, for light to read by and a million other things.

However there is a cost, financial of course, is there any such thing as free energy, free renewable energy that goes on and on? And of course there’s an environmental cost, what about free renewable energy or free green energy if you prefer?

Of course free energy IS available, but is it in the interests of power generating companies and governments to tell you about free energy. In the case of power generating companies, energy that’s free to you is anathema. Governments may set targets for green energy and reductions in harmful emissions, but most of them are too dumb to see that they can still make their tax buck, or too indebted to big business for campaign donations to have the will to make a change.

Their argument goes that renewable energy simply cannot replace nuclear, or oil, gas or coal fired power stations, we simply need too much power. Well, I’m here to give you some simple logic, I hope you’ll agree with my deductions and take action.

First of all, ANY free renewable, green energy reduces our reliance on dirty, and/or dangerous large power stations. Any free energy is part of the solution, not part of the problem. What may surprise you is just how much of a contribution you can make to solving the pollution problem while saving large amounts of hard earned money. A dollar, pound or euro saved, is a dollar, pound or euro earned right!

For the last six years I’ve been living on a small yacht. Now I’m not an electrician and I don’t know about ampere hours and all that stuff. What I do know is this, I have two relatively small solar panels on the wheelhouse roof and one wind generator mounted on a pole on the stern of my boat. I have six batteries, two large truck starting batteries for the diesel engine on the yacht and four deep discharge batteries from a golf cart for the domestic supply.

Batteries don’t make power of course, they just store it. Now, when I started living on my boat I didn’t have much money, so I would use marinas in winter, when the price comes down and I would anchor out in bays or rivers pretty much the whole summer. For emergencies I took a petrol generator along and of course if I run the diesel engine then the alternator will make power. However what amazed me was that I could sit around on anchor for weeks on end, running a fridge, using my computer to write, watch DVD’s, go on line if WiFi was available, run an anchor light at night, all night, and light the cabin in the evening and I never needed to run the generator or the diesel engine.

Admittedly I used bottled gas to cook or make hot drinks, but that’s because I would need to run an inverter to get the voltage up for an electric kettle or hotplate. However, from time to time I would sail to a new location, sometimes a day sail and sometimes going through the night. I would protect the engine starting batteries for emergencies, but there was enough power in the domestic batteries, even after weeks at anchor to sail and use the autopilot, the gps and even navigation lights at night AND that’s without turning the fridge compressor off either.

What I’m getting at is that my experience demonstrates, that two small solar panels and one wind generator can produce enough power to pretty much cover the normal domestic needs of one careful individual. So what happens if you’re a family of four or more? Well for a start you probably live in a largish house, so if your entire roof was covered with solar panels couldn’t that provide a fantastic amount of free renewable energy for your family. As a family do you use four times the power of one individual, no, there will be times when you are all in the same room, sharing the light and heat, maybe watching the same TV show. Not always of course, but four people in four dwellings will always use more power than four individuals living in the same property. Free solar and free wind power can make a huge difference to your bank balance and you’ll be making an investment in the future of the planet for your kids.

Don’t just take my word for it, information on the subject is widely available. You can even buy plans to build your own solar panels and wind turbine at home. You may not get your power charges down to zero, although it could be done with enough solar panel area and a number of wind turbines, but if you and your neighbors all start using these technologies, if more and more people adopt free renewable energy systems the trend for more and more power stations will be reversed. There could even be a new hobby or business opportunity for you. Free power, look into it now, because the world is a changing place.

Governments will increasingly be looking to develop renewable energies to avoid power shortages that would stunt development and therefore mitigate government objectives of raising living standards. Global economic and energy demand growth will be concentrated in developing economies, so there is much potential for the role of renewable energies in emerging markets to expand over the next two decades. Although conventional forms of energy will still dominate the energy mix, the expansion of power-generating capacity in emerging markets will at least partly be supplied by growth in wind, solar, bio and hydropower. While there is criticism that countries such as India and China have balked from making more firm commitments to cutting their GHG emissions, both these countries nevertheless have prioritized renewable energy development as part of their strategy to reduce the carbon intensity of their respective economies per unit of GDP. Therefore, developing economies led by the BRIC countries are playing an increasingly crucial role, not just in the global economic order, but also in the climate change debate and in the dynamics of global energy supply and demand.

Use this report to…

• Achieve a quick and comprehensive understanding of the renewable energy sector in the major emerging economies.
• Realize up-to-date competitive intelligence through an extensive review of the different forms of renewable energy and the different rates of development depending on the country.
• Assess the policy goals of the emerging economies regarding renewable energy and how these are driving capacity expansion.
• Identify which forms of renewable energy and which markets have the greatest growth potential for renewable energy.
• Identify the main drivers and resistors to growth for all the main renewable energy sources in each of the major emerging economies.

To know more and to buy a copy of your report feel free to visit : http://www.bharatbook.com/detail.asp?id=132639&rt=Green-Energy-in-Emerging-Economies-Renewable-investment-capacity-growth-and-future-outlook.html

Or

Contact us at :

Bharat Book Bureau
Tel: +91 22 27578668
Fax: +91 22 27579131
Email: info@bharatbook.com
Website: www.bharatbook.com
Blog: http://bharatbookresearch.blogspot.com
Follow us on twitter: http://twitter.com/3bbharatbook

See peswiki.com The saying, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure” is coming true in the waste-to-energy field. With some landfills overflowing, much real estate at a premium, groundwater and air pollution concerns, and fossil fuel scarcity concerns; methods of turning refuse into fuel or electricity are attractive for many reasons. Who would have ever thought that junk and sewage could be cost-effectively turned into a valuable commodity? It turns out that there are several approaches being developed — and even some already in commercial operation — that, with tipping fees, can turn a profit from turning garbage and sewage into electricity and fuel. According to their Vice President, Lynn Brown, Waste Management, the company the comes around to haul off garbage, is increasingly turning some of that garbage into energy — enough to power over one million homes — the equivalent of 14 million barrels of oil per year or 3.6 million tons of coal. And the company has a goal to double that amount to 2 million homes by 2020. (www.wm.com Some landfills now capture the methane that comes out of the buried trash, which used to escape into the atmosphere as a potent greenhouse gas. Instead, they now burn this methane to run generators. Solar Hydrogen Energy Corporation (SHEC Labs) has developed a process that uses solar energy to convert this methane into hydrogen, and expect that within 5 years they will compete with the cheapest sources of Hydrogen.
Grant Shapps, the coalitions government’s new Housing Minister, has been advised to develop the previous administration’s green policies.

The UK Green Building Council (UKGBC) has advised Mr Shapps to follow in the footsteps of the last Labour government and focus on the construction of low carbon homes.

Continuing Labour’s policies would benefit the environment and the economy, according to the UKGBC, which could lead to increased demand for green energy courses.

Paul King, chief executive of the UKGBC, said: “The last government set out world-leading commitments for all new homes to be zero carbon from 2016 and all new non-domestic buildings from 2019, and the industry has risen to this challenge.”

Mr King went on to say that it was promising that both the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats endorsed the zero carbon policies in opposition as it would be important to see consistency from the new government.

The construction industry needs stability in order to encourage organisations to continue to invest and facilitate the delivery of emission targets, according to Mr King.

UKGBC has welcomed the coalition’s plans to cut emissions from central government departments by ten per cent but has called for a comprehensive strategy for reducing emissions across the UK’s built environment.

Mr King said he hoped that the new target is just the first step of a fresh carbon cutting campaign as energy use in homes and buildings is responsible for 43 per cent of the UK’s carbon emissions.

“As the UK’s biggest construction client and one of the UK’s biggest occupiers of buildings, government is ideally placed to lead by example and put buildings at the heart of tackling climate change and reducing energy bills,” Mr King added.

One way in which homes and building can reduce their carbon emissions and cut bills is to install environmentally friendly appliances.

These can include air and ground source heat pumps, biomass boilers, solar-thermal water heaters and combined heat and power plants.

An increasing number of tradesmen will be required to go on green energy courses in order to gain the skills to install the green technologies when they become more popular with homeowners and businesses.

British Gas recently revealed that it is retraining existing engineers through green energy courses to meet the increased demand for the environmentally friendly appliances.

The Liberal Democrats announced before the election in their party manifesto that they have a vision of a zero carbon Britain by 2050.

Buildings are the SUVs of US energy consumption, gobbling up 71 percent of the nation’s electricity. In this Sept. 22, 2008 talk, Arun Majumdar, Director of Berkeley Lab’s Environmental Energy Technologies Division, discusses how scientists are creating a new generation of net-zero energy, carbon-neutral buildings.
Help answer the question about Green Energy
How are environmentalists and green energy plans NOT like Communists and five-year plans?
I'm trying to argue that this author (who uses this analogy) is using fallacious reasoning. What are some obvious differences?

The author's writes the following:
"Just as 20th-century socialists savaged capitalism for all the world’s ills and offered worthless “five-year plans” as a replacement, so today’s environmentalists savage industrial energy and offer us “green energy plans” that they assure us will work–once we give them the power to forbid everything else that has already been proven to work."

Any ideas on disproving this?

Most power plants in the US and all over the world are using coal to operate and generate electricity. Fossil fuel has been used as an energy source as long as man has learned to generate power. Coal has been around for centuries and when man started using this energy sources no one though about the consequences. mineral fuels will run out and there will be a shortage of it in near future. This shortage in fossil fuel will have its affect on our daily live and various industries. Today we see some of these affects already, fossil fuel prices are raising and generated energy is becoming more expensive. Although mineral fuels are more scares, to need for fossil fuels will still be here and will not decrease in near future. To solve this shortage of mineral fuels we will need to look for other possibilities for our energy demand.

Fortunately, green energy sources are growing in interest. For instance, locations with large rivers are experimenting on building a hydro-electric power plant, which turns out to be beneficial. Other locations with strong wind speed make use of a wind generator that can convert wind power into electricity. Also thermal and tidal powers are good alternatives.

Energy from the sun is also one of the alternative energy sources that is gaining in interest. green energy has steadily been growing. Today energy from the sun is widely used in the US and the advantages are tremendous. Our green energy source, the sun, its life span is estimated to be another 4.5 billion years. It is fair to say that this energy source is almost endless.

Rate of Energy from the Sun

The sun’s radiation reaches a certain unit of area in space in the region of the Earth’s orbit and is estimated to be at 1,400 watts per square meter. Out of this, photovoltaic cells can capture 19 to 56 watts per square meter (for 15% efficiency) or an equivalent of 0.45 to 1.35 kilowatt per hour (kWh) in an average day and night average.

Therefore, if there would be larger area that will be covered by more solar panels, these panels can produce a little more energy in the form of electricity than what is currently available from our imported sources of energy combined (assuming 8% solar cell efficiency).

Convert Solar Energy

There are two ways of conversion of solar energy. First is the direct sunlight which involves only one conversion into a usable form. For instance:

• Sunlight hits the solar cell, converting it into electricity.
• Sunlight hits the absorber surface of a solar thermal collector, converting into thermal energy which can be used to heat homes during cold season.

The second is the indirect solar energy which involves more than one conversion to reach a usable form. For instance:

• Plants use photosynthesis to transform solar energy to chemical energy, which can be burned later as fuel to generate electricity (also known as bio-fuel technology).
• Hydroelectric dams and wind turbines are indirectly supplied by solar energy through its interaction with the Earth’s atmosphere.

What is Good and Not Good About Solar Energy

Just like any other types of energy resources, solar energy has its ins and outs.

What’s Good:

• Pollution-free.
• Solar facilities can be run with little extra input or maintenance.
• It is abundant. As mentioned earlier, almost all inhabited areas here on Earth can be reached by the sun’s rays.

Cons:

• Although it is everywhere, non-tropical locations can receive little sunlight. Thus, energy that will be produced in these locations is a minimum.
• Only during daylight hours thus not available after dark.
• Photovoltaic cell technologies generate direct current (DC) power which needs to be converted to alternating current (AC) power used in distribution grids.

Once extensive development of the use of the sun’s rays is materialized, expect that every household or business in the world will now be powered by solar energy. It is not just a dream, it will be a dream come true.

Magniwork Plans For A Magnetic Electrical Generator (How To Create A Magnetic Generator Plans)

As electricity costs continue to rocket and a lot of individuals suffer the effects of the credit crunch it makes good sense to examine your options with regards to green energy production. Most people are inclined to think on solar and wind power when thinking of a home-based green power source. Nevertheless more and more individuals are starting to understand the advantages of a 3rd choice that of magnetic power. Below I examine the advantages of a magnetic generator produced form Magniwork plans.

Advantages Of A Magnetic Electrical Generator

Works In all Weather Conditions – Evidently Solar And Wind Power rely on an abundance of wind and sun to function effectively. This is not the state of affairs with a magnetic electrical generator which will perform continually in any weather condition.

Safe To Use – Evidently a concern with any power generation scheme nonetheless the magnetic electrical generator is thoroughly safe to operate.

Fits Into A Small Space – Where as some green energy systems can be cumbersome and in the case of wind power can require quite a bit of space outside A magnetic electrical generator can install into condensed small space.

Minimal Maintenance and Maintenance Costs – Once they are built there is very little that needs to be acted on a regular basis to keep the system functioning perfectly and therefore you do not need to spend much additional money.

The Ability To Reduce Your Power Bill By Up To 50% – Obviously It depends on how much energy your home consumes as to the percentage. But with the universal price of energy the savings are going to become increasingly more significant. This reason on its own is a good enough motive for most individuals to create a Magnetic Generator from Plans.

Simple To Construct – A lot of individuals are frightened of do-it-yourself and imagine that something like building a magnetic generator is more intricate than it is. The fact is anyone is capable of constructing a magnetic electrical generator. All they are required to do is abide by the easy to understand step by step guide and it could be completed in a few hours. All the simple tools and resources can be generally be accessed from your local hardware store.

Magniwork Plans For A Magnetic Electrical Generator Conclusion

If you were to purchase a ready built magnetic electrical generator it would cost you a minor fortune. I was genuinely astounded to find out that all the materials I required for the construction came to a sum of approximately 100 dollars. There is no doubt in my mind that zero point magnetic electrical generators correspond to the energy source of the future. Compared to both the setting up costs and spatial requirements of wind and solar power they are a superior option.

It is remarkable to think that if you were to construct additional magnetic electrical generators you could in fact eliminate your power bill entirely. In addition to the vast power bill savings you are making you have the knowledge that you are putting into operation technology that is going to be advantageous to the planet and its future survival. Check out the information below to discover where you can discover more about and gain access to Plans For A Magnetic Electrical Generator.

Earth 4 Green Energy!!! I would ask you the question, “Do you want to save money while making the world a clean green and better place to live at the same time,” and if you’re like most people, your answer would be, “Sure.” What I have discovered is that using alternative energy such as solar panels can drastically reduce your energy cost.

Did you know? A basic solar installation from a retailer can take 30 years to pay back and cost you well over $20,000? This is simply too much for many to afford and the pay back time is far too long. You can build a single panel or a complete array of panels to power your home for a fraction of retail cost. You can make a solar panel that produces up to 120 watts and then join these panels together to produce over 1KW of power. Then after you install such panels on your property, your home’s value will increase.

So, here’s the solution. Take a weekend and make a clean green earthy solar energy panel. You can generate solar power to use instead of drawing from the electrical grid of a local company. This can reduce your bill either a little or a lot, depending on how many panels you wanted to build and put around. The cost of living is increasing each year and there is no better time than right now to start generating your own electricity and doing your part to help clean up the environment.

You don’t need to be a builder, anybody can make solar panels. Male and females alike can easily build these panels. It’s really quite easy and no special tools or knowlege is required. You can get plans from most hardware stores or on-line sites about building solar panels.

In particular, I know that many green energy sources require significant up-front investment today to capture the benefits of potentially grid-parity kwh production in the future.

How does financing work in the energy industry today around the world and is it possible that the way energy production is financed might hinder large investments?

The topic of renewable energy has been widely discussed in recent years. Indeed, as fossil fuel supplies continue to dwindle and high energy prices are maintained, people are realising the advantages of finding alternative sources of energy. Not only that, but in light of the detrimental effects of burning fossil fuels – coal, oil and natural gas – there are increasing efforts to explore more environmentally-friendly options.

Currently, there’s a worrying amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) being released into the world’s atmosphere. This, say many scientists, is significantly contributing to climate change and global warming. In order to protect the earth from further damage, therefore, people are looking for new, greener sources of electricity and gas, as well as ways to reduce overall energy consumption.

According to research, more than 40 percent of the UK’s man-made CO2 emissions come from the energy people use in their homes and for travel. As a result, there are many new initiatives aimed at encouraging people to personally embrace greener technology and to limit the amount of energy they use in their properties.

Generally speaking, there are two main types of renewable energy available that can be used at home: solar and wind. Solar power, which converts the sun’s natural energy into electricity and heat, is the most popular form of renewable energy and can be relatively easily installed in domestic properties. Not only does it provide people with environmentally-friendly, or green energy, but it also helps to save on bills.

Wind power is also an established form of green power and again can be employed in the home. Basically channelling the power of the wind through the use of mini wind turbines, electricity is generated, which is then fed into the property’s electricity supply. Producing energy in this way is great for the environment and it’s even possible to sell back any excess energy to the power companies: this is also true for surplus solar energy.

If it’s too expensive to install such equipment, it’s always possible to switch to a green energy plan or tariff. There are various options available, such as an energy match, whereby power companies will match each normal unit of electricity used in the home by feeding a unit of renewable energy into the National Power Grid. They may also fund renewable energy projects.

Additionally, there’s a lot that people can do at home, both to conserve energy and to save money. For example, if everyone in Britain with gas or oil central heating installed a condensing boiler with heating controls, it would be possible to save up to 6.7 million tonnes of CO2 from being emitted into the atmosphere annually.

With a bit of thought, everyone can help in the fight against climate change. Embracing renewable energy is a great way to start, as is reducing the amount of gas and electricity being used in the home. And, thinking about this issue now will not only help the environment, but also make a difference to utility bills.
